One out of four people in Latin America has got AIDS

“Get tested” is this year’s slogan for Worlds AIDS Day (December 1st). The OPS or PAHO (Pan American Health Organization) announced yesterday in Washington that one out of four people in Latin America and the Caribbean has got AIDS and hasn’t noticed yet.

HIV tests are necessary for protecting couples and preventing other more serious infections. It is also helpful for the people who is detected with AIDS to start as soon as possible a treatment which may save their lives.
The first diagnosed case with AIDS was on December 1st, 1981. That’s why, this day has been chosen for spreading the importance of this global issue. This year is the 30th time in which this day is commemorated.
One of the main objectives of the Agenda 2030 for Sustainable Development is for people no to be infected with HIV anymore. It was approved thinking in giving support to vulnerable people, specially young people and those who are discriminated.
