For the past two, or maybe three weeks, We’ve seen a lot of celebrities, and users of social media giving their opinion about this and inviting their followers to participate in the Midterm elections happening in a few days. (November the 6th of 2k18).

Katy Perry, Taylor Swift, Ariana Grande and John Legend are the celebrities that are speaking the most. They are using their voices to make awareness of the midterms and also they are asking their followers to vote and share it with them. Katy Perry posts everyday information of the Midterms, Taylor Swift shares the pictures of her followers that have already voted, and she also shows her support for some Democrats. Ariana Grande has also shown support for the Democrats. John Legend is giving the example by sharing a post on Instagram and also on Twitter.



You just need to type in the search bar of Twitter, #Midterms2018, and you can see all the posts, from journalism accounts to personal opinions. You can find people supporting the Democrats, people hating them, people who think the Republicans are the best political party in the whole world, and some that think they shouldn’t be there.

According to the Pew Research Center, nowadays, millennials are one of the largest voting groups in the United States; that’s why celebrities are using their social media accounts to invite them to vote. An article of Hootsuite explains that the 36% of Twitter users are more likely to be millennials, this can tell us why they are using this type of digital platforms to make people aware of the political situation of their country.

**UPDATE**

Surprisingly this worked, almost all registred to vote millennials voted, they say the campaigns of Taylor Swift and Katy Perry were the ones that worked with the youth.

We can clearly see the power of social media in our lives.


The results of the Midterm Elections were a surprise for all the world, they have a Republican Senate and a Democratic House.
