Honeymoon that turns into tragedy

In Florence, a Mexican man throttled his wife of 21 years during their honeymoon. The police captured him and he confesed all, so he was sent to Solliciano prison.

A 30 year-old man killed his Chinese wife inside a hotel room in Florence. He was arrested this saturday afternoon in the same city. Their names haven’t been published nor revealed. The tragedy took place on Saturday morning, November 24th. The couple had arriven to Santa Caterina di Alessandria street where their honeymoon had started by the beginings of that week.

The police men assures that it was the man who confesed it all and later, was sent to Solliciano prison. Nevertheless, during the questioning process, he refused to answer several questions. It is strange though, that witnesses say that he was the one who asked for help right after suffocating his wife.

The major, Dario Nardella said that the murder ocurred right before the International Day against violence against women and emphasized that every 72 hours, a woman dies because of gender violence in Italy.

However, this is an example of how hard it is still for women to feel safe around men. It is unacceptable that in the 21st century we are all facing these kind of experiences. It’s time for us to do somenthing and make a change.
