Unless what you were expecting is an almost three-hour film about someone’s problems, Bohemian Rhapsody is the movie for you.

Bohemian Rhapsody is a tribute for Queen, their music and their awesome lead singer, Freddie Mercury. Freddie has a rough story, you can see how he fought stereotypes and shattered convention to become one of the most famous and beloved singers on the planet. In the movie, Freddie Bulsara (Rami Malek) dreams of become a singer (going against his dad dream for him) and goes to clubs to hear his favorite band play. When their lead singer quits, Freddie gets to be the singer. The film is a great way to understand how the band got their fame through their iconic songs and revolutionary sound.

They reach unparalleled success, but in an unexpected turn Freddie, starts to deal with the trickery of fame, including drinking and drugs, ego wars, and his own sexual identity, he keeps of his friends, spending time with bad influences, Freddie follows a bad path, pursuing a doomed solo career.

In 1985, when Queen is invited to play the Live Aid show, Freddie manages to be with his bandmates just in time for Live Aid. While facing a recent AIDS diagnosis, Freddie leads the band in one of the greatest performances in the history of rock music. Queen cements a legacy that continues to inspire outsiders, dreamers and music lovers to this day.

A lot of people were expecting Bohemian Rhapsody to be a two-hour film about Mercury´s addictions, affairs, and in general all the problems he had facing fame, as I mentioned before the movie is tribute to Freddie and his band.

Rotten Tomatoes, “world’s most trusted recommendation resources for quality entertainment” (according to them) gave the movie a rating of 62% they claim the movie “offers more of a medley than a true greatest hits collection.” Most of the audience claims it is a really good movie giving it a 92% rating.

Like all movies, it has a divided audience, the ones that were expecting a movie about addictions and the ones who received what they were expecting, a tribute to one of the most iconic bands ever.
